SUAD Students take the Year Of Zayed to Sorbonne University, Paris
On October 12, 2018 the master students of Sorbonne University, Abu Dhabi will present a musical concert in honor of the celebration of the UAE’s initiative Year Of Zayed. The concert officially titled Art of Zayed will consist of western classical compositions including Debussy, Chopin, and Fauré and contemporary Arabic music by Emirati Artist Hamad Al Taee.
Students in the program have been organizing this event since October, 2017 with the assistance and guidance of their Professors who fly in to Abu Dhabi to teach and advise the students in their academics.
There are a total of 6 students, in which five of them are of the Emirati nationality. Fatima Al Hashimi, one of the students, is also performing at the event as a pianist alongside several other resident French students at Sorbonne University in Paris.
The concept of Art of Zayed was derived from the UAE’s initiative the Year of Zayed. The year 2018 commemorates 100 years since the birth of the late Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan, Late President of the United Arab Emirates. This creative project showcases the impact of his late Highnesses’ legacy by promoting the values and creativity throughout the year. The Art of Zayed will be a reflection of that initiative by using academics to portray the beauty and talent of UAE based artists.
The students of the program will be traveling to Paris for a 10-day trip filled with academic classes at Sorbonne University in Paris. In addition, the students will be presenting their master’s thesis in front of a jury of defense.
The Performing Arts Management degree is in the 3rd year running at Sorbonne University in Abu Dhabi and is the only master’s degree offered in the region.
